Choosing the Right Filter for you Obviously you want the hood filter that works but there's more than one type of filter for your kitchen. All the filters we supply and fit are best of breed but you need to consider, for example, whether your filter is likely to be visible to customers. A lot of kitchens these days are on display, and customers expect to see freshly prepared food prepared in impeccable surroundings so if your hood is going to be on show you want a nice looking filter – aluminum or stainless steel. Then you have to ask yourself what kind of usage it's going to get. If it's particularly heavy usage for a high volume environment you're going to need the toughness of heavy duty or galvanized stainless steel. And if you're cooking with solid fuel you will need spark arrestor filters. Type 1 and 2 Commercial Hood Filters Type 1 commercial hoods are required to have grease filters in them to stop grease building up in the duct work and not only reducing its effectiveness but causing a major fire risk in the process. Type 2 commercial hoods (oven hoods) don't require grease filters because they aren't intended to operate over smoke or grease vapor. They're mostly intended to extract condensation, steam, and smells. Let us check your kitchen and help you choose the right (and legally correct) filter system you need for the kitchen hoods you have. Spark Arrestor Filters If you're cooking with solid fuel like wood, mesquite, or charcoal to get those fantastic flavors then you also have to bear in mind the fire risk that comes with those solids. To ensure that floating embers or sparks don't get into your kitchen exhaust system and spark grease fires you need specific spark arrestor filters. Talk to us today about what you cook with and we'll help you choose the right filter for the job. Hood Filter Spacers You may find that industry standard size hood filters don't fit your custom hood – every kitchen is different after all. Don't worry about it. That doesn't mean you necessarily have the cost of customized filters. We can discuss the best combination of commercial filters to fit your hood then fit curved metal hood filter spaces to your unit so that those filters will fit perfectly. |
